Arm 04 · Agent fleet management

Eight arms. Zero freelancing.

Agents that pick up the work, stay inside the fence, prove it landed and stop when you say stop. OCTOPUS runs your fleet the way a good floor manager runs a shift: clear assignments, a check before anything leaves the building, and nobody clocks out without a receipt.

The morning after, fleet edition

More agents. More mystery.

One agent is a demo. Twenty is an org chart nobody drew. Work gets claimed twice or not at all. A quiet queue could mean everything finished or everything broke. And “done” usually means the agent stopped talking.

How work moves

Four things have to be true.

Card 01 · Dispatch

Work finds the right arm.

Every task arrives with a goal and a definition of done. Agents claim work by what they are built for, specialists first, capable backup after. Nothing is picked up twice and nothing sits unclaimed without someone noticing.

Card 02 · Bounds

Every arm has a fence.

Each lane runs inside the scope you set: which systems it can touch, what it can change, and which moves need a person.

Card 03 · Proof

Done means landed.

A task closes on evidence, not on the agent's say-so. The change merged. The record was written. The page is actually serving the new version. “It returned 200” is not a finish line.

Card 04 · Failure on file

Every miss gets a file.

When something breaks, it becomes a record with its measured cause and a fix tracked to closure. The same mistake should be news exactly once.

The dial

Autonomy is a dimmer, not a dare.

Turn autonomy up lane by lane where the work is safe and reversible. Keep a person on anything consequential. New behavior runs in shadow first, watched, with a date by which someone decides to keep it or kill it. No experiment lives forever by accident.

Brakes

Paused and stalled never look the same.

Brake the whole fleet or one lane, and OCTOPUS says so. A held lane reads held. A lane that went quiet for no reason raises its hand. An instrument it cannot read reports unknown, never green. Silence is the most expensive status in operations. We don't let it pass as good news.

Health

It knows before you ask.

Heartbeats on every worker and service. Alerts fire when something changes state, not every few minutes about the same thing. The briefing tells you what moved, what is stuck and what is waiting on you.

Hand-off

When the fleet needs a person, it comes to the Desk.

Some calls belong to a human. Those arrive on the Desk, on your phone, with the question, the recommendation and the evidence on one card.
